The fifth edition of the Mediterranean and Balkan Film Festival “Across the Lake”, which will be held this year in Dojran, Strumica and Gevgelija from July 8 to 15, will also feature the third Workshop on Script Development and Production for Graduation and Debut Short Films, to which students and debut authors can apply in order to compete for a financial grant in equipment and material resources through their project that will enable them to produce and post-produce their own film work.
The experience so far has been extremely satisfactory. Four short feature films have been produced – two were shown last year, and the other two will have their Macedonian premiere at this year’s festival edition. These are high-quality and professionally produced film projects that will live out their lives at other festivals where they will be accepted.
Working with young people who want to realize their dreams, taking their first steps in filmmaking, is a great privilege and pleasure. “Across the Lake” is the only Macedonian film festival that gives this opportunity to young authors, both students and debutants. Anyone who is even slightly versed in film art knows well how difficult and complex it is to make a film, especially when it comes to an author’s debut. Hence, we will continue to remain dedicated to our work – to create conditions for young authors to realize their film dreams.
