Synopsis

A pregnant woman receives a phone call that changes everything—and threatens both her and her unborn child’s lives. Yelena is joyfully expecting her first child, only 37 days to go, then she answers an unknown call. On the other end of the line, a chilling voice delivers an impossible ultimatum: obey his gruesome demands or watch her unborn baby die. Forced into a brutal game of cat and mouse, Yelena must navigate a bloody odyssey of murder, chaos, and fear. Darkly funny, unrelentingly violent, and dripping with suspense, this modern fairytale plunges into the depths of terror.

Director’s Statement

Karmadonna is a rare animal. While being extremely personal, it is also a film about everything. Primarily, Karmadonna is about motherhood in today’s world, and the struggles every self-aware single mother undergoes in a quest to bring and eventually raise a child into the hostile environment that surrounds us. It also explores a love affair rarely talked about – one between the mother and the child. Stylistically, it is a love letter to ambitious auteur-made genre films and a planned attack on all senses.
