The Mediterranean and Balkan Film Festival "Across the Lake" is returning to Dojran for its second consecutive year. The festival will showcase the finest movies from the heart of Europe, offering a diverse selection of screenings across various locations in Dojran from July 19th to July 23rd, 2023. As we prepare for this exciting event, we cordially invite you to contribute and be a part of the festival's success. The festival programme:
The Kids on the Boat programme offers an exciting lineup of movies specifically curated for children and young people. These screenings boast high-resolution visuals, accompanied by excellent sound quality. We believe that children and young people, being immersed in the world of imagery and storytelling, deserve nothing but the best. This event provides a remarkable opportunity for parents and children to come together, enjoy quality time, engage in conversations, ignite imagination, and share emotions while comfortably seated in the city park playground near the beautiful lake.

The student programme features a collection of movies from the prestigious National Balkan Mediterranean academies for TV and film. It serves as a stepping stone for aspiring filmmakers and their creations. This year, we are proud to present the Serbian movie academy FDU, showcasing the finest works from their renowned school of cinematic illusions. Additionally, we have carefully selected exceptional films from "Across the Lake" and beyond the Mediterranean Sea. These screenings take place on the beach, creating an ideal setting for young filmmakers and movie enthusiasts to exchange knowledge, skills, artistic expressions, impressions, and even leave a trace of love in the sand.

Official selection of feature films
The official selection of feature films in the competitive section of the festival represents the centerpiece of the Mediterranean movie feast. Six carefully chosen films from Iran, Serbia, Italy, Turkey, Romania, and Greece will take center stage. Many of these films are co-productions involving France, Croatia, Bulgaria, Spain, and other Mediterranean countries. This unique film experience, titled "Across the Lake," brings together the diverse tastes and aromas of the Balkan and Mediterranean regions, offering a captivating cinematic journey.

The special program of this year's festival focuses on Serbian modern film and cinematography, highlighting Serbia as the birthplace of Balkan and Mediterranean movie trends. Serbian filmmakers embody courage and boldness in the world of cinema. The cinematic creations emerging from the Danube River flow towards the Black Sea and then continue their journey to the Mediterranean, eventually transforming into a wave that captivates moviemakers and film enthusiasts across the region. In this curated selection, three new Serbian movies will be showcased. The first one is dedicated to children and young people, the second one targets adult audiences, and the third one presents a love drama from the past that will resonate with people from the Balkan and Mediterranean regions.
